Lachenaie is a sector of the city of Terrebonne, Quebec (Canada), located northeast of the city of Montreal. Incorporated as a city in 1972, Lachenaie merged with Terrebonne and La Plaine in 2001 to form the new city of Terrebonne. Lachenaie is located on the north bank of the Mille-Îles River, at the confluence of the Rivière des Prairies, across from the Laval district of Saint-François and the Montreal district of Rivière-des-Prairies.
Its name recalls that of Charles Aubert de La Chesnaye, the founder and seigneur of the original colony.
The municipality of Lachenaie was created in 1845 and was finally dissolved in 1847. The parish of Saint-Charles-de-Lachenaie was finally created in 1855, which obtained city status in 1972. The typical suburban residential character became predominant, encouraged by the construction of highways 25 and 40. In 2001, the town was integrated into the city of Terrebonne.
