Saint-Laurent is a borough of the city of Montreal, Quebec (Canada). It is the largest of the Montreal boroughs in terms of area, and has approximately 100,000 inhabitants. With a population that is overwhelmingly immigrant, Saint-Laurent is multicultural.
Originally an agricultural village, train and tramway service catalyzed its development as an industrial and residential city. Distribution centers, the aeronautics industry and high technology provide most of the jobs in the 21st century.
It is named in honor of Laurent de Rome.
The borough of Saint-Laurent is located in the north of the island of Montreal. It is bordered to the north by the Cartierville district, to the south by the city of Mont-Royal and to the west by the city of Dorval and the borough of Lachine.
